Teal’c Birthday Party

As you can see Teal’c worried no one would come as we were setting up.

“Surprise party” – – well he kind of figured it out on his own!

They soon started to arrive and Teal’c was happy to see many friends show up.

Some were new friends.

Some of Teal'c new friends.

Some of Teal’c new friends.

But most were old friends.

Lots of healthy treats for everyone.

Lots of healthy treats for everyone.

And of course there was –

Teal'c Birthday Cake

Everyone enjoyed the cake and treats.

As with any group of dogs which includes food and new dogs introduced to the pack there were a few scuffles,

which were quickly quelled by the guardians and forgotten by the dogs.

All the dogs were looking for MORE CAKE.

All the dogs were looking for MORE CAKE.

Some of the dogs were late arrivals due to their guardians commitments and missed out on the cake,

but were just as happy to join us for a walk and play.

There were a total of twelve dogs at Teal’c Birthday Party, only three missed out on the cake.

Teal’c thanks everyone for making his

Birthday a very special day!

Thinking about my Dog

After recently learning of the passing of Pootchy, I began wondering how would I react if Teal’c, my dog, were to pass away? I have had many dogs before, but then I worked, had other obligations, family to care for. Now I am retired, and it is just Teal’c and I, there are friends and family but few obligations, Teal’c and I spend all our time together from the time we get up in the morning, with a cold loving nose in my face, to the time we fall asleep at night, Teal’c lying with his back pressed up against me.

Daily together we go about our business, we both love walking and hiking, we meet many people who all seem to be impressed with Teal’c, who is always eying me with affection and become instantly aware of the tight bond between us.

Just now, sensing my sadness, Teal’c came and placed his front paws on my lap over the arm of the chair and pressed his head against my chest occasionally lifting his head and staring into my face then the kiss. This lasted about three minutes, until he knew I was OK, now he is lying on the floor beside me.

The love I receive from this Dog is greater than any love I have received or felt from any human.

The thought of loosing him is……..sorry there are no words that can explain it! I hope that we pass together at the same time as I am sure that the loss of me would be just as devastating to Teal’c, but until that time we have many more joyful times to experience and share with you.

So we are off again, this time I think Teal’c deserves an Ice-cream cone.

Kingston We are Back

We made it, back in Kingston Ontario.

We had a good trip, rain during the drive and it stopped raining five minutes before we arrived. Teal’c and I had to go to our favorite dog park, not many dogs we knew a lot of new faces and even some puppies, and children that Teal’c had a great time playing with. As usual this dog park is well groomed and all the people watch and show responsibility for their dogs. I am always so impressed when I come here, hats off to everyone, this dog park would not be what it is without responsible dog owners like yourselves.

This young gentleman had fun with all the dogs, he even took the following picture of Teal’c giving me a kiss, Great job, this was his first time ever using my camera, I am impressed.

Teal’c was a little depressed at the start of the day being away from home but this visit to the dog park and the children playing with him has really uplifted his spirits. “Thank You”

A Persistent Dog

This dog, Teal’c, will do anything to get the stick back to his master. The river is swollen with the Spring runoff, the current is strong, but even when he gets tangled in brush submerged under the water he will not give up. The stick must get back to his master.

Teal’c is not wearing a collar nor his harness, you should always remove them before your dog goes swimming. Always check there is nothing that can injure your dog when he/she jumps in.

The current here is not strong enough to present a danger to Teal’c and the sounding bank has an ample slope to make exiting the water easy, except if he got stubborn about holding on to the stick, if there was any danger I WOULD JUMP IN, or would not have allowed him to swim at all.

This Week with Teal’c

This has been a good week, a lot of walking and Teal’c is enjoying the exercise and meeting new people. The wooded area near my home is almost dried out now after the spring melt and a great place to play fetch, Teal’c really enjoys the challenge of the varied terrain and natural obstacles. When I throw a ball he always tries to catch it on the first bounce and is so proud of himself when he does.

We have spent more time with the pack and meeting new friends today we met an old friend Teal’c hasn’t seen for several months Pickle

Teal’c received his video camera this week and has already taken several videos showing his perspective of the world but the first videos were noisy with his tags banging against the video camera so we went to the pet supply store to get a harness vice the collar to fix this problem.

We fixed the problem the video on the way to meet his pack that evening is not as noisy, in this clip Teal’c is jumped by Kanga a dalmatian as Teal’c runs through the forest to meet his pack. I had to slow down the video to 1/2 the original speed or everything is just a blur.

We still have some ideas on how to improve the video and will be working on that over the next few weeks. Wish us luck, have a great week and play with your dog.
